What is the Vision behind the Strategy?
Fundamental to the creation of the Strategy is an agreed vision of the type of county that Louth should become by 2012. The task of the strategy is to ensure that the vision becomes a reality. The benchmark for success for the strategy will be the successful realisation of this vision by 2012.
" Louth, a community confident in its own identity, willing to embrace and cherish all, leading to a rich diversity of culture and a good quality of life. It is an active community participating at all levels in the sporting, cultural and recreational opportunities offered by its many natural features. The economy of the county is vibrant and one that embraces connectivity. It is a successful economy that is both technologically advanced and innovative. County Louth fully exploits its unique strategic location as the place where North meets South"
How has the Louth CDB Strategy been developed?
to the inaugural meeting of the Board new community representation structures were established in Louth by the Local Authority. Three Area Fora based on the Local Electoral Area boundaries were set up. All eligible community, voluntary and local development groups were invited to register and become members of the Forum in their area. Each Area Forum nominated five representatives from each Local Electoral Area to the County Community & Voluntary Forum. Community and voluntary sector representatives were then selected from the County Community & Voluntary Forum to sit on the County Development Board, the Strategic Policy Committees (SPCs) and the Expanded Area Committees. Louth County Community & Voluntary Forum is the first countywide co-ordinating structure for the community & voluntary sector in Louth.
