One of the Junior Councils main ventures for 2008 was the “Computers for African Schools Project”. The project which was launched in January 2008 was a collaborative fund raising campaign between Louth Junior Council, Louth County Council and CAMARA, a Dublin based registered charity. CAMARA take in second hand computers that have been discarded by Irish organisations and individuals, refurbish them and send them to schools and colleges in sub Sahara, Africa to educate students on issues such as HIV/AIDS. They then send out groups of volunteers to train African teachers in basic computer literacy and more specialised technology areas. They also produce computer training materials.

The target set by the Junior Council and Louth County Council was to collect 250 computers (approx) which has now been met. These computers were donated by a number of colleges, schools, companies and private households throughout Co. Louth. The Junior Council also helped to fundraise for this project.
