About CDB

Each CDB is guided by a series of key principles. Louth CDB identified a set of principles, which it has, and will continue to seek to embody in its work. They are as follows:

  • Participation and inclusion - ensuring the voice of the local community is fully heard and that participation by all is facilitated;
  • Mutual respect - by all the participant agencies of each other’s validity and interests;
  • Consensus -Decision making based on consensus;
  • Social Inclusion - A recognition of the needs of the socially excluded and a particular emphasis on social inclusion;
  • Openness and Change - Openness and commitment to change;
  • Equality and Environmental sustainability - The concepts of equality and environmental sustainability are accepted and included in the workings of the Board.

A number of values have been identified that underpin Louth CDB’s operations. They are as follows:

  • People Ethic - There is a people ethic, putting people first and endeavoring to impact in a positive way on the quality of life of people in the county. All people are valued, young and old, people who may or may not be socially excluded and the many people who visit our county each year.
  • Equal access and Encourage participation - Seeking to ensure equal access and encourage participation for all and by all within the county. This includes actively involving the Community and Voluntary Sector and promoting its empowerment.
